Multikos Stages
The SOCOME Multikos stage is a modular temporary structure designed to create platforms for musical, film and theatrical performances. It consists of a platform supported by a load-bearing structure made from prefabricated components of the MULTIKOS «DX Connection» metal scaffolding system, complete with prefabricated steel stair flights.
The modular configuration makes it possible to create structures in different sizes, adaptable to the requirements of each installation. The prefabricated components, lattice beams and dedicated platform elements work together to create a structure designed to be assembled, dismantled and subsequently reused, subject to the appropriate inspections.

The stage consists of prefabricated «DX Connection» standards, ledgers and transoms which, when properly connected, form the load-bearing structure.
The platform is supported by dedicated lattice beams, connected to the standards by means of the multidirectional node. The beams are equipped with connections for housing the prefabricated intermediate supports, which support the platform, and threaded inserts for the panel fixing screws.
Adjustable base jacks are installed at the bottom of the structure to level the stage. Depending on the type of base jack used, the maximum adjustment range specified in the manual is 50 cm.
The system components can be used to assemble structures in different sizes, based on the following modules:
- 1.80 × 1.80 m;
- 2.00 × 2.00 m;
- 2.50 × 2.50 m.
The MULTIKOS stage is designed and calculated to withstand the following imposed loads:
The values shown are those specified in the product's technical manual and must be observed when designing and using the assembled configuration.
The platform deck is made of 18 mm thick, Class 1 plywood panels, featuring an anti-slip finish and coated on both sides with phenolic film to increase wear resistance.
The layers are bonded using phenolic adhesive, resistant to both high and low temperatures. The bonding process is carried out in accordance with British Standard BS 1203:1963, type WBP.
Pre-assembly
Before installation, a suitable protected storage area must be prepared and the availability of the required technical documentation must be checked.
- Check that the components match the assembly layout and belong to the same scaffolding system and the same manufacturer.
- Ensure that the required personal protective equipment is available: safety harnesses, helmets, safety footwear and gloves.
- Check the condition of the components and ensure that they are suitable for use.
- For large stages, the manual recommends preparing the design and the assembly, use and dismantling plan (Pi.M.U.S.) in advance, identifying the quantities and types of components to be used.
Assembly
Base supports: the ground supports must ensure long-term stability for the standards, without settlement. A suitable supporting surface must be prepared, loads must be distributed using stable timber boards or metal plates, and the level of the bases must be checked.
The adjustable base jacks must be correctly inserted into the standards, with the sleeve secured by its retaining device and the minimum insertion length observed. The base jack system specified in the manual allows level differences of up to 50 cm to be compensated for.
Stage structure: during assembly, the vertical alignment of the standards and the horizontal alignment of the transoms and ledgers must be checked. All components specified in the design and assembly layouts must be present, including structural ledgers, guardrails, diagonal braces, handrails, stair flights and metal decking. The correct engagement and operation of the safety devices must also be checked.
Access staircase: the staircases consist of flights with 6 steps, featuring a 33 cm tread and a 16.7 cm riser, complete with side protective rails and adjustable feet. The supporting frame is made of steel, and the steps are made of profiled steel panels.
Protective guardrails: these are made using MULTIKOS ledgers connected to the multidirectional nodes welded to the standards. They extend at least 1 metre above the platform deck and are completed with galvanised steel toe boards.
Operation and use
- Check for and prevent any gaps or uneven joints between the individual boards forming the platform deck.
- Observe the maximum imposed load specified for the platform decks, equal to 6.0 kN/m², and the load on each individual step, equal to 1.0 kN.
- During use, safety components such as guardrails and structural components such as diagonal braces and ledgers must not be removed.
- If any changes are made to the structure during assembly, the technical documentation must be updated.
To keep the structure and its components in good working condition, the manual requires the following inspections:
- Check compliance with the design loads and the number of loaded levels.
- Check that the stage decking panels are secured and that the safety devices on the ledgers and diagonal braces are correctly locked.
- Check the vertical alignment of the standards.
- Check the condition of the supporting surfaces and steel stair flights.
- Where installed, check the efficiency of the earthing system and the lightning protection system.
The assembled structure must be inspected periodically and, in any case, every month, after severe weather events and whenever design changes are made.
Dismantling operations must be carried out using personal protective equipment and with careful organisation of component handling.
- Check, organise and control the handling of dismantled materials.
- Do not throw components during dismantling operations.
- Stack the materials on the ground in orderly bundles.
- Set aside and clearly identify any damaged, deformed or broken components.
Components that are clearly damaged must not be reused.
